Energy vulnerability and poverty are the risk and inability of households to meet domestic energy expenses, due to the high price of energy, low household income, and poor quality/efficiency of buildings. In the Global South it is also a question of access to available and/or affordable energy sources. Likewise, there are families unaware of their inability to meet these energy costs, despite living well (hidden energy poverty). The main objective is to delve into energy vulnerability and poverty, implications and determinants, as well as propose its alleviation, promoting good practices and measures for public decision-makers, public policies and strategies and technical, social and environmental interventions that alleviate vulnerability, on the residential park. For this, the study population is the university community and its environments. Awareness and training measures (workshops, master classes, etc.) and capacity building measures are included to train educators who influence future generations, and prepare future designers, architects, urban planners, and legislators, in matters of domestic energy. . The specific objectives are: 1) identify habitats of the university communities; 2) detect the energy vulnerability of these communities; 3) assess the impacts of energy vulnerability and poverty perceived by community and region; 4) generate proposals to mitigate impacts, in the context of Climate Change, and by region; 5) Dissemination of results (transverse to the project). The scope of study is Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Cuba and Chile, regions affected by the effects of Climate Change, and Southern Europe (Spain and Portugal), punished by extreme climate events, or New Zealand as a vulnerable Pacific island (for contrast realities), which enhances inequality and the impact on health and well-being, especially with energy vulnerability and poverty. The international relevance of this multicenter study involves 1) making visible the Global South with energy vulnerability, in the context of Climate Change; 2) prepare reports, good practices, recommendations and interventions, for public policies aimed at alleviating them; and 3) awareness, empowerment and dissemination among future professionals (by international multidisciplinary experts), to change the status quo of Ibero-American homes in energy vulnerability. Energy independence and autonomy, decarbonization, and the Energy Transition are promoted; the best decision making per household or community; and personal promotion, improvement of health and well-being, with the best indoor environmental quality of residential spaces.
