ENTRACK - Empowering local and regional authorities to design clean Energy TRAnsition plans through Capacity and Knowledge
This week, we had its kick-off meeting, which took place in Rome.
Empowering local and regional authorities is pivotal in achieving the EU's ambitious climate neutrality goals by 2050. The #ENTRACK project recognizes the challenges faced by local policymakers, especially in rural areas, where a lack of knowledge and technical capacity often hinders socially just energy planning.
In response to this pressing need, #ENTRACK aims to bridge the knowledge and capacity gaps of local authorities. Our initiative focuses on supporting these policymakers in co-designing social energy plans that not only address the genuine energy needs of regional and local stakeholders, including vulnerable citizens, but also align with European and national energy policy frameworks.
Utilizing participatory approaches such as multi-actor perspective analysis, empowerment evaluation, and participatory #ethnography, ENTRACK advocates for a bottom-up approach. Our goal is to assist #Mediterranean #rural #municipalities in co-designing practical, ambitious, and just energy plans.
The ENTRACK project will implement and pilot methodologies and capacity-building processes in eight selected rural municipalities across four Mediterranean countries: 2 in Greece (Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace), 2 in Italy (Region of Campania), 2 in Portugal (Region of Alto Alentejo), and 2 in Spain (Region of Catalunya-Pirineus).
