João Pedro Gouveia did an interview to the turkish journal "Independent Türkçe" about the role of renewable energy for the energy transition and energy poverty reduction. He stated that "Renewable energy sources lie at the heart of the transition to clean energy, halting climate change, providing access to energy to millions of people around the world and increasing the thermal comfort inside our homes at affordable costs."

João Pedro Goveia also defended that the increasing "integration of renewable energy will result in decentralized and more resilient energy systems that will lower energy prices and benefit the global population in general. Wind and solar power plants are already cheaper than fossil fuel-fired power plants in many parts of the world."

João Pedro Gouveia explained what is the main factor that drives countries towards green energy: "The recent rapid increase in the price of fossil fuels and the limited access to natural gas in some European countries are the main drivers of change. We must seize this opportunity not only to increase energy independence in most countries, but also to invest heavily in the energy efficiency of heating systems and the housing stock while accelerating the adoption of a wide range of renewable energy technologies"
